Lucy Rodgerson
President
Hi everyone, my name is Lucy. I’m a second-year law student and will be your JCR President for the upcoming year. It is my responsibility to oversee the JCR Committee and all JCR events, as well as to represent the views of the JCR community to higher authorities within the college and the wider university. Pembroke is an incredibly welcoming and friendly place, offering a range of sports teams and other extra-curricular activities throughout the year, as well as Oxford traditions such as formal dinners and BOPs. I have had such a brilliant time during the first year here, and I will do my best to ensure that you will all enjoy it too. I look forward to meeting you all soon!

Hi everyone, my name is Kush, and I am a second year studying PPE. I will be your JCR vice-president this year. It will be my role to engage with the student community and to help organise a lot of the events around college, including formal dinners and the fortnightly JCR meetings. There are so many exciting things on offer at Pembroke and I will do my best to ensure they run as smoothly as possible. I am looking forward to meeting you all soon.
Paul Gurcel-Escudero

Hello, I’m Paul, a 2nd year Biology student. As secretary of the JCR, I will send out weekly emails to all members of the JCR. The emails will contain information about current events at Pembroke and will often relate back to JCR meetings. I will also send out the voting links regarding motions put forward at JCR meetings. Finally, I am responsible for taking minutes of JCR meetings. Please feel free to approach me if you have any questions about anything, I will be happy to help.

Hi, I’m Oguzhan, I am one of the JCR treasurers of the JCR this year. I am a second-year law student. Ed and I oversee student battels, budgeting, reimbursements, and purchasing for the JCR.

Shuhan Qi

Hey guys, I’m your REM rep Shuhan. I am a second-year experimental psychology student from China. My job is to make all REM students feel welcome and at home and ensure that Pembroke has an inclusive environment. I will be organizing activities throughout the year to promote ethnic equality, and I will also be able to provide confidential support to any member, so feel free to talk to me any time! In addition, I am responsible for gathering feedback and concerns REM students may have, so please contact me, even now, if there's anything you would like to speak about.

Hi, I’m Alysa, a 2nd year studying Theology & Religion, and I am one of your wellbeing reps. We will be running loads of events during Freshers Week, and we hope to see lots of you there. We will also be doing a couple of workshops during the week, so you’ll probably see a lot of us. Our main role this year is running wellbeing events throughout the term and being around whenever you might need advice or just somebody to chat to so don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything! Hi, I am Hugo, and I am another one of your welfare reps. I’m a 2nd year studying Italian and Linguistics. I’ll hopefully get to know a lot of you whilst helping run welfare events and workshops during Freshers’, and even more if you choose to do rowing. A big part of our role is to be a friendly face around college so feel free to have a chat whenever you feel like it.

Hi, I’m Leyi, a 2nd year PPEist and one of your wellbeing reps in the coming academic year. Our main role is to run wellbeing activities and provide support whenever it is needed. We will be doing welfare walks with welfare dogs every week, so if you’re into dogs please come join us! Don’t worry if it rains as we’ll also bring dogs into the JCR for you to hug and play with them indoors. Please also look forward to many fun and relaxing activities during term time.

Hi I’m Elisa a second-year studying Spanish and Portuguese and I am one this year’s wellbeing reps! As wellbeing rep, I will be part of organising welfare events and activities, as well as being one of the many people in college that you can reach out to for support. Finding a balance between your personal life and work life at Oxford can sometimes be difficult, but it is super important to prioritise your mental health and us welfare reps are here to guide you through! Hiya, I’m Isabel – a second-year historian and your Access and Outreach Rep for the 2024/25 academic year! I’m super excited to run regular social events and influence Pembroke from the top down to be as accessible as possible for all social classes and backgrounds! Accessibility is extremely important, and I aim to be a friendly face for anyone to come to regarding any access, or access-adjacent, issues at the college as well as the wider university – and through socials and workshops I hope to build a strong and thriving access community at the college. Hi, I’m Sophia, a second-year historian, and I’m the Academic rep for this year! I’m responsible for leading the subject reps, sitting on the Academic Committee and organising University Challenge. I also help to organise Pembroke’s own 3CR talks. Studying at Oxford can be both rewarding and challenging, so I’m always here to help with any academic concerns or questions.

Hi, we’re Paula (Maths and Philosophy) and Ethan (PPE) and we are this year’s Charities reps. Our main job is to make charity and fundraising events fun and accessible to all. We will be running live music nights and bops every term as well as bake sales, giving everyone a chance to participate either with their time or money. Basile Husseini
Music Rep
Hi! I’m Basile, a third-year music student and I will be your Music Rep this year! My role will be to oversee the different musical activities of Pembroke and to encourage students of all levels to join us for some musicmaking. Our college has a growing and diverse musical scene, with a choir open for all, a chapel choir, an orchestral ensemble and a jazz band – you are also welcome to create your own band! These ensembles are led by our music director, Mark Wilson, our organ scholar, George Charman, and myself. Hi there, I’m Nadia, your Art Rep. I’ll be organising the JCR Art Loan Scheme which allows you to borrow artwork from our very own JCR Art Collection to hang in your room each term - for free! I’ll also be running some arty events in college, including oil-painting workshops, bop-costume crafting sessions, museum trips, art s
ocials and the Annual Pembroke JCR Art Competition. I’m happy to help you access art materials through college, or to set up your own art societies (we had a crochet circle last year) so feel free to get in touch with any ideas or requests.

Hi, we’re Rohan and Bella and we’ll be your JCR Sports Reps this year! Our main role is taking responsibility for organising sports-related events at Pembroke and promoting sport more generally in the college community. ENTZ Reps
Hi we’re Alexa and Callum (both 2nd years studying E&M) and we’re your Entz reps this year! We both had such a great first year at Pembroke that we have dedicated ourselves to making sure that next year is even better. Our main job is planning bops which are our themed college club nights, but you can also look forward to events such as Bottomless Prosecco, Karaoke in the bollege car and much much more. If you’re a non-drinker, don’t worry! There will always be drinking and non-drinking options available at Entz events so that everyone can get involved. Hi I’m Olivia, a second-year Biologist and I am Pembroke’s Environmental rep this year! I will be aiming to make Pembroke as sustainable as possible and working with the college and students to help achieve this. Being a green college is important, and I am always open to new ideas on what people want to see put in place. There will be lots of opportunities and events in the JCR to get involved in, such as Pemvironment, Pembroke's environmental society - so keep an eye out!

Biodiversity Rep
Hey, I’m Amelia a 2nd year Biology student and your biodiversity rep this year! I am in charge of the Pembroke biodiversity project which is very exciting as at Pembroke we have an entire plot of land dedicated to biodiversity and a very generous grant to help us maintain it and improve Pembroke's biodiversity. I really believe that spending time in nature and more importantly conserving it is vital for our mental wellbeing. Throughout the year I will be organizing events that include helping down at the site and gardening events. The biodiversity project has a great team, and we would love to have any many people as possible join, all subjects are welcome!

GAB & Living Out Rep
Hi, I’m Luke and I’m the GAB and Living Out Rep for 2024/25. I study French and Italian. As all freshers live on main site, it is unlikely that you will have much contact with me, but as a member of the JCR committee, I will always be available to answer any questions you may have about anything, particularly concerning accommodation for 2nd Year. Towards the end of the year, I will lead tours of the GAB (Geoffrey Arthur Building), which is a short 5-10 mins across the river from college, and hope that as many of you as possible turn up and discover Pembroke’s best-value accommodation!
