Hi!! I’m Marnie, a second year studying English and I’m so excited to be your LGBTQ+ Rep this year! I’m continuing the role from last year so I hope to bring my experience to make queer life at Pembroke the best it can be. We have a very strong inclusive community here regardless of your background, from both college staff and students alike. Events range from the weekly GayCR, which is a chance to catch up and meet new people with snacks and drinks, movie screenings, and themed formals. Outside of college, Tuesgays is hosted weekly at different pubs and college bars which is a good place to meet other queer people (including if you don’t drink so please don’t feel worried about that!) Hey I’m Toni, a second year History and Politics student, and I am your Gender Equalities Rep for this year.

Being Gender Rep means that I am president of Peminists, Pembroke’s feminist society, and I am your representative on the Liberation Council for all things gender.

I am hoping to introduce more provisions this year for our trans students alongside making Peminists and other Pembroke gender events more inclusive.

I am also an ear for any students wanting to simply talk as navigating gender, identity, and the issues which go along with this can be especially pertinent and difficult whilst establishing yourself here at uni.

Hi! I’m Raffi and I’m a 2nd year Philosophy & Theology student, and I am absolutely thrilled to be your Comms Rep this year! Without a strong communicative foundation, the JCR wouldn’t be able to function as it does, and so my role centres around keeping everyone as up to date as possible in a number of ways.

Throughout the year, I will be in charge of running the JCR Instagram account, so make sure you’re following @pembrokejcr to see all of the events ran by JCR members and college. I’ll be using all the pictures taken at JCR events to help update the archives to better represent what college life currently looks like. I’ll also be helping the IT Rep with overhauling the JCR website, which will hopefully reflect a lot of the content posted on social media, so feel free to have a look at the website from time to time as well!

As well as regularly updating the Instagram and the website, my role includes making the Fresher’s guide, which you have hopefully had a look through and have found useful, as well as the new Committee guide, which you are reading right now! I am also in charge of editing the Pink Times magazine, which is the JCR’s annual publication, so I will be getting in contact about contributions very soon.

One of the biggest parts of my role as Academic Rep is to organise some of the events around college, specifically the 3CR talks and the Pembroke University Challenge. The 3CR talks are short presentations from students and academics about a topic that interests them. They happen just before formal dinner and are open to everyone, and most importantly with free refreshments. One personal highlight was when the Director of CERN gave one! I’d highly encourage everyone to attend, it gives a real picture of how Oxford functions as a research institution alongside an educational one.

Hi, I'm Harkirat and I read Biochemistry and am your Food and Accom Rep. I try my best to facilitate communication between the JCR and the college catering and accommodation team. This year we are trying to streamline bookings for formals and trying to keep prices reasonable for all. 
If there is anything which ever bothers you in the slightest regarding food or accom, please feel free to reach out and we will try our best to fix it. It is impossible to resolve issues we are not aware of so please don't be shy.

Hi, I’m Seth and I’ll be your Environment Rep for next year. My role is to represent the JCR’s voice in making sure that Pembroke remains committed to sustainability. This will involve working with the college to try to reduce our carbon emissions, particularly regarding hall food and accommodation heating systems. As part of my role I will attend both the Sustainability Council and Green Impact Team meetings. I welcome any suggestions of matters related to environment and sustainability that you believe ought to be raised at these meetings.

Hi I’m Seb, I am a second year biologist and will be your Biodiversity Rep for this upcoming year. Pembroke, despite being one of the smaller colleges, is big on biodiversity. We are lucky enough to have our own biodiversity site near the sports ground which is part of a wider project that has been running for 5 years funded by a generous grant. Aside from the biodiversity site, the college grounds are also full of life with extraordinary flower beds everywhere you look and the addition of bird boxes and bug hotels this year will hopefully help to further enhance wildlife around college. At times, life at Oxford can get quite stressful and that is why I truly believe students should spend more time outdoors appreciating and enjoying nature; therefore, I aim to run frequent wildlife walks throughout the year. Additionally, there are many exciting plans in motion including the installation of an apiary, expanded monitoring of biological diversity to incorporate mammals, and a renewed effort to prove that otters use our biodiversity site. Everyone is welcome to join the team and I hope to see many of you at our events, but in the meantime make sure to follow @pembrokebiodiversity to find out what it’s all about!

Hi! I’m Gabrielle, and I’m a second-year Law student. I’m so excited to be your JCR Art Rep this year! I love art and believe there’s something in it for everyone. As such, my plans focus on hosting a range of events to cater to everybody, including: BOP costume making; a chill session making art in our beautiful JCR Art Gallery (yes, Pembroke has its own Art Gallery!); guided oil painting workshops for all skill levels hosted by a professional artist; and Drink & Draw – art socials where drinks are supplied. I also plan to stock the JCR with some great art and craft supplies so that you’re well-equipped to create art in your own time. I’d love to shape this year around what the JCR actually wants, so if you have any suggestions, whether on events, supplies, or something else, please don’t be afraid to come up to me or send me an email! I’m also around for any questions you have regarding Law, the college’s Blackstone Law Society, or life here at Pembroke.

Hey everyone! I'm Charlie, I'm a second-year Music student and I'm your Drama Rep for this year. You can usually find me squirrelled away in a tech box somewhere doing sound design. There's loads of student theatre to look forward to both at Pembroke and across the whole university, including our annual Pembroke musical (which was Little Women last year) and the plethora of student shows which take place across Oxford in the many studio theatres - and the Playhouse, which seats almost 700 people! I'm always down to chat theatre or gossip about OUDS (the Oxford University Dramatic Society) so feel free to come to me any time if you have questions about theatre at Oxford.

Hi, I'm Sophie, a second year Linguistics and Italian student and one of your JCR Sports Reps this year. My main sport is running, but I'm happy to join most things that might need an extra player! I started off as a sprinter, but now mainly focus on middle distance running. I am a member of Oxford University Cross Country and also founded the Pembroke Run Club last year, which is an inclusive club for all running abilities. Together with George, we'll be your main point of contact for any Pembroke Sports related questions you might have. We'll also be organising sports-related events at Pembroke (keep an eye out on some great events during Freshers Week!) and we hope to get many of you involved in College sport. Hi Freshers, I am Harry and will be the Student Union Rep (again) for the Pembroke JCR 2026-7! As freshers, your main interaction with the Student Union will come in your first week, at the Freshers Fair held at Exam Schools, which is organised by the SU. I recommend that you go and sign up your email address to as many societies as possible, including niche interests and quirky sports. You do not then have to go to the society if you change your mind.

Beyond that, as SU Rep, I will be taking feedback and ideas from our JCR to the SU through its Conference of Common Rooms. There has been a lot of change recently to the SU so it is an important time to have an influence, especially as Pembroke has quite a large undergraduate population.

The Student Union is run by a team of permanent staff, however there are also four sabbatical officers elected each year from the student body. It is partly my job to scrutinise their work and make sure that the Pembroke JCR votes in the SU elections in Hilary Term.

Finally, the SU will be holding a referendum at some point this year on whether we want to disaffiliate ourselves from the National Union of Students, as other Universities like Cambridge have done in recent years. Expect to hear from me on that, and feel free to ask me any other questions about the SU!

Hi, I’m Kiitan, a 2nd year Physics student and I’ll be your Stash Rep for this year, which means that I’ll be your first point of contact for anything college branded clothing related, so keep an eye out for when I drop the links for any stash drops throughout the year in the group chats and weekly emails. I’m planning on introducing quite a few new items across stash this year, so look forward to that, and don’t hesitate to stop me with any ideas or feedback you have - stash is supposed to represent all of us after all. I’m pretty easy to spot if you need me, I’ll probably be in some funky shades or hats as pictured.

Hi, I'm Stanley (a Physics and Philosophy student and your GAB Rep for this year). I'm really looking forward to meeting you all this October. To be honest as GAB Rep, my role is not immediately relevant to you! This being said if you have any questions about the GAB please feel free to reach out at any point! For those who arent aware, GAB is the college owned accomodation outside of college (obviously you're all in college this year). I will be running tours of the GAB in Hilary term though, which might be helpful in making accomodation decisions for next year -because trust me it comes round quick- so keep an ear out for that. Most importantly have an amazing first term!!

Me again! As well as being Drama Rep this year, I'm also Trans Rep for the JCR. I work with the LGBTQ+ rep to look after the trans students at Pembroke and make sure everyone's voices get heard in college. My role includes keeping the JCR website up to date with everything happening around college and helping with any IT issues you might run into. Outside of that, I've set up the new Pembroke College Minecraft server, and I may also host casual game nights in the JCR sometimes. Hello Pembroke! I'm Joseph, 2nd Year PPE and your JCR Wine Rep. Wine, for me, is less about pretension and more about good company. I believe that a good bottle can open up a conversation and mark an evening as something worth remembering. Specifically, I'm a big Bordeaux guy (find me with a glass of wine even in our college pub). My role is an exciting and free-flowing one. I bring quality wine onto the formal table, and host wine tastings from time to time in college. Through my role, I wish to push for more awareness and appreciation of wine in Pembroke. Cheers 🥂
